About Nissan Cube

With an emphasis on versatility and value, Nissan Cube was built by the outstanding Japanese multinational automobile manufactured Nissan Motor Company Ltd between 2009 and 2014 as a subcompact mini Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV). Originally introduced in Japan as early as 1998, Cube was available in North American market until 2009. Although being manufactured for only one generation in North America, Cube had won many awards and recognition such as Kelley Blue Book named it one of its Top 10 Coolest Cars Under $ 18,000, getting a Top Safety Pick from Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), Automobile Design of the Year Award and so on.
Nissan Cube made its debut in North America at the Los Angeles International Auto Show on November 19, 2008, and went on sale in the U.S. on May 5, 2009. It was offered in only one body style, 5-door hatchback and came in three trim levels: S, SL and Krom (it discontinued for 2012 model year). Built based on the Nissan B platform, Cube had more rounded and curved styling in the rear bumper area, in the asymmetrical rear window which wraps around to the passenger side, and in the driver and front passenger windows. During its lifetime, Nissan Cube was powered by a 1.8 L I4 engine rated at 122 hp and 127 lb-ft of torque and this engine sent through either a 6-speed manual transmission or a CVT to front wheels or four wheels.

Nissan Cube Common Problems & Maintenance Tips

Offering plenty of room for adults and boasting impressive hauling and towing capacities, Nissan Cube is a fine choice for you. But considering Cube also has some downsizes, you had better be prepared for these common problems on it now:
First, as a vehicle with great towing capacities, Nissan Cube is used for transporting heavy goods, which makes a huge harm to its suspension system. And that is why many Cube drivers complained about the suspension failure on it, and in fact, many drivers have not too much knowledge about this issue. Most of them find it too late and think it at most causes an uncomfortable and unsteady trip. But starting with the clunking or grinding noises from underneath the vehicle, they are approaching the danger. Since noises are actually the signs of uneven tire wear, which in turn cause intense car vibration and tilting vehicle, and if the steering wheel also gets loose and shaky, you will get stuck in poor handling, which is the time when the Reaper comes. Thus, please make sure the Cube sway bar link, sway bar bushing, shock and strut mount, control arm, strut bearing, coil springs, and coil spring insulator are working properly all the time.
Second, for Nissan Cube drivers, engine failure seems to be an unavoidable issue as well. And usually, the cooling system failure also appears so that the engine deteriorates more quickly and more seriously. Lucky for you, some experienced Cube drivers have some tricks to know about this issue prematurely before it results in fatal consequences. Generally, if you find the engine noisy, smell burnt oil in the compartment, see leaking oil and coolant on the ground, then after a while, the engine will perform worse so that it may misfire, stall and even suffer from starting issues. You should inspect the Cube exhaust flange gasket, exhaust manifold gasket, intake manifold gasket, radiator cap, coolant reservoir cap and cooling reservoir cap once the Check Engine Light and Low Coolant Light come on.
Another point you need to bear in mind is to perform routine maintenance on vulnerable auto parts on your Nissan Cube if you want to enjoy a safe and comfortable ride. Please remember to add the Cube rear passenger door handle latch, tailgate lock, wheel cover, cabin air filter, fuel door release cable, seat belt, wiper blade, door handle, wiper arm, headlight bulb and electrical parts power window switch, window motor, window regulator, ignition lock assembly, ABS sensor and speed sensor on routine maintenance since they are all exposed to high frequency of usage.
